Depending on the type of object that you are working with, you can use one of several methods to change the value of an object's Embedded Data .
Text Objects
For text objects, you can change the value of an Embedded Data data source by using the Object Properties dialog or by using the Data Edit tool.
To change an Embedded Data data source value by using the Object Properties dialog

Open the Object Properties dialog. To do this, double-click the object. Alternatively, click Properties on the object's .

In the navigation pane, click the Embedded Data data source that you want to edit. The Data Sources property page is displayed.

Click the Data Source tab, and then enter the value that you want in the Embedded Data input box. To insert a symbol or character, click the icon to open the Insert Symbols or Special Characters dialog, and then select the character that you want.
To change an Embedded Data data source value by using the Data Edit tool

Turn on the Data Edit tool by pointing to a data source within the object. When the pointer turns into a , the Data Edit tool is turned on.

Click within the object to turn on the on-screen editing functionality and then do one of the following.

To replace characters, select the existing characters that you want to replace, and then enter the value that you want.

To add characters, click the location within the existing embedded data where you want to add data, and then enter the characters that you want.

To delete characters, select the existing embedded data characters that you want to delete, and then press Delete
or Backspace
.
Barcode and Encoder Objects
For a or encoder object, you can change the value of an Embedded Data data source by using the Object Properties dialog or by using the Data Edit tool and the corresponding Data Edit dialog.
To change an Embedded Data data source value by using the Object Properties dialog

Open the Object Properties dialog. To do this, double-click the object. Alternatively, click Properties on the object's context menu.

In the navigation pane, click the Embedded Data data source that you want to edit. The Data Sources property page is displayed.

Click the Data Source tab, and then enter the value that you want in the Embedded Data input box. To insert a symbol or character, click the icon to open the Insert Symbols or Special Characters dialog, and then select the character that you want.
To change an Embedded Data data source value by using the Data Edit dialog

Turn on the Data Edit tool. To do this, clickon the object toolbar.

Click the barcode or encoder object that you want to edit. The Data Edit dialog opens.

If the object has more than one data source, use the Data Source control to select the data source that you want to edit.

In the Embedded Data input box, enter the value that you want.

Click OK to close the dialog.

Turn off the Data Edit tool. To do this, click on the object toolbar.
