Security: Permission Checks

When you configure security for the BarTender Suite by using the Administration Console Security page, applications in the BarTender Suite perform permission checks to determine whether the current user has permission to perform certain actions, such as modifying a template or connecting to a database in BarTender.

You can specify the permission checks that you want to be logged to the System Database by using the Logging page in Administration Console. Then, by using the options in the Security: Permission Checks view, you can filter, sort, and view this information in History Explorer.

To display permission check information, click one of the filter options under the Security: Permission Checks header in the View Selector pane. You can use a predefined filter or customize your own.

The following filter options are available:

All Permission Checks: Displays all of the permission checks that have been made by all applications in the BarTender Suite.

Permission Checks by Action: Displays permission checks as grouped by the action that prompted the check.

Permission Checks by User: Displays all of the security permission checks as grouped by the user who made the request.

Permission Checks by Computer: Displays all of the permission checks as grouped by the computer on which the action was performed.

Permission Denied: Displays all of the permission checks for which permission was denied.

Custom: Displays the custom filter controls at the top of the Security: Permission Checks pane. You can use these controls to create custom filters to display only those permission checks that meet specific criteria. For more information, refer to Creating Custom Filters.

After you click a filter, permission checks information appears in the Security: Permission Checks pane. You can customize the display by sorting, grouping, or filtering the data.
