Security Property Page

The Security property page allows you to specify authentication options for Print Portal users, and disable specific features of the Print Portal user interface.

Access the Security property page by clicking Security in the left Navigation Pane of the Administrative Setup page.

The following settings are available on the page:

Authentication

Authentication in Print Portal must be enabled before permissions settings in Administration Console can be enforced. Once you have enabled an authentication option in Print Portal and security is enabled in BarTender Administration Console, you can assign BarTender Print Portal permissions to individual users and groups using Administration Console. "Administer" permissions must be allowed for users that will need to access the Administrative Setup page.

Disable authentication: When selected, users do not need to log in to access Print Portal. All users will have access to all root folders and BarTender documents, as well as access to and the ability to change the administration settings. This is recommended for organizations where user-based security is not a concern.
Enable authentication over HTTP: When selected, users must log in to access Print Portal using their Windows account. Authentication occurs over HTTP which is not encrypted, so this is recommended for organizations that intend to use Print Portal in a LAN-type environment only.
Enable authentication over HTTPS: As with Enable authentication over HTTP, when this option is selected, users must log in to access Print Portal using their Windows account. However, with this option, authentication is secured using HTTPS. This requires that a security certificate and HTTPS binding is configured for the Print Portal website in IIS. This is recommended for organizations that wish to use Print Portal over the Internet. Selecting this option will verify that HTTPS is configured correctly.

If you have enabled an authentication option and security is enabled in BarTender Administration Console, you must use Administration Console to assign BarTender Print Portal permissions to individual users and groups. Administer permissions must be allowed for users that will need to access the Administrative Setup page.

Features to Disable

Printer selection: When checked, disables printer selection on the Print Document dialog; the document will print to the printer specified in the BarTender document.
Print quantity: When checked, disables the quantity selection on the Print Document dialog; the printer will print the number of copies specified in the BarTender document.
Document search: When checked, disables the search box on the Print Portal user interface.
Document print preview: When checked, disables the Print Preview button on the Print Document dialog.
Changing view options: When checked, disables the View Options menu on the Print Portal interface.
