Enabling Print Portal Authentication

Administrators can configure Print Portal so that users must log in using their Windows accounts. This is done by enabling authentication on the Security property page. With authentication enabled for Print Portal, and security enabled in BarTender Administration Console, access to Print Portal and the Administrative Setup page is determined by the user permissions defined in Administration Console, as follows:

For more information about assigning user permissions using Administration Console, refer to the BarTender help system.

You can enable authentication over HTTP or HTTPS. Authentication over HTTP is recommended for applications that will be used in a LAN-type environment only, as the authentication is not encrypted. Authentication over HTTPS is recommended if you plan to use Print Portal over the internet, as the logon form is secured using HTTPS.
