Configuring Application and Document Security |
After you have installed Print Portal, you will need to configure an appropriate level of security for both the application and the documents that are made available through the application.
By enabling one of Print Portal's authentication methods (HTTP or HTTPS), you can take advantage of the Administration Console's powerful security feature to allow and deny users permission to run and/or administer Print Portal based on their logon credentials. However, while the permissions granted in Administration Console will ensure that only specified users are able to access the application, you may require further restrictions within the application itself that secure specific documents. This level of security can be achieved using any of the following methods:
Within Print Portal, by assigning visibility of root folders to only specified users, or by simply adding a file filter to a root folder to filter the documents displayed in the Document Browser.
Within BarTender, by assigning document password protection.
Within Administration Console, by enabling documentation encryption.
Enabling Print Portal Authentication
You can enable authentication for Print Portal to ensure that only authorized users and administrators can access the application and Administrative Setup property pages, respectively.
There are several methods to limit access to BarTender documents if you have documents that you want available to only specific users.
