Adding and Deleting Toolbar Menus

By using the Customize dialog, you can add both default menus and custom menus to toolbars. You can also delete the menus that you have added to a toolbar to remove them from the toolbar at any time.

ClosedTo add a default BarTender menu to a toolbar

  1. From the View menu, point to Toolbars and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. In the Customize dialog, click the Commands tab.

  3. In the Categories list, click Built-in Menus.

  4. From the Commands list, drag the menu that you want to the toolbar on which you want to place it and continue to drag it until an insertion bar appears on the toolbar at the location where you want it.

  5. Release the mouse button to place the menu.

  6. Click Close to close the Customize dialog.

ClosedTo add a custom menu to a toolbar

  1. From the View menu, point to Toolbars and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. On the Customize dialog, click the Commands tab.

  3. In the Categories list, click New Menu.

  4. From the Commands list, drag New Menu to the toolbar on which you want to place it and continue to drag it until an insertion bar appears on the toolbar at the location where you want it.

  5. Release the mouse button to place the menu.

  6. Open the context menu for the new menu, click Name, and then type the name for the menu in the input box as you want it to appear on the toolbar.

  7. Press Enter to apply the new name.

  8. From the Commands tab of the Customize dialog, add the buttons and commands that you want on your custom menu. For more information, refer to Adding Commands to Custom Menus.

  9. Click Close to close the Customize dialog.

ClosedTo delete a menu from a toolbar

This method of deleting a menu from a toolbar is available only when the Customize dialog is open. It is the same method whether you are deleting a custom menu or a built-in menu that you have added to the toolbar.

  1. From the View menu, point to Toolbars and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. Open the context menu for the menu that you want to delete and then click Delete.
