Log Setup Dialog

The Log Setup dialog, accessible from the Administer menu or the Message Setup dialog, defines how BarTender will record the print job information and error messages that the application encounters.

BarTender can connect to the BarTender System Database, as well as manage and save messages to it. Using the Database Log tab of the Log Setup dialog, you can specify the database where BarTender will store its data. Once you have set up a connection to the BarTender System Database via the Setup button, you can define whether application messages are stored in the database. The information stored in the BarTender System Database is easily accessible using the different views in History Explorer.

BarTender creates text files that collect application messages and print job information. Using the Text File Log tab, you can create log files and save them to specified locations on your computer or network drive.

ClosedDatabase Log Tab

  • Log To BarTender System Database: When enabled, instructs BarTender to save application messages and/or print job information in the BarTender System Database.

  • Setup: Opens the BarTender System Database Setup dialog.

Information To Log

  • Application Messages: When enabled, instructs BarTender to send application messages of the specified severity to the BarTender System Database.

  • Severity Level: Defines the types of messages that are saved to the database; when Custom is selected, you can define a custom set of messages that will be saved in the BarTender System Database. Click the Select button to open the Select Messages dialog and select the messages you want to log.

  • Print Job Information: When enabled, saves all print and reprint related information to the BarTender System Database.

  • Template Data (Required for Reprint): When enabled, saves information about the template(s), such as data source values, to the BarTender System Database.

Advanced Options

  • Copy of the BarTender Document: Saves a copy of the document to the BarTender System Database.

  • Copy of Linked and Data Sourced Pictures: Saves a copy of all images on the template(s) to the BarTender System Database.

  • Image of the Printed Item(s): Saves a print preview image of all items in the print job to the BarTender System Database.

  • Customize: Opens the Customize Logged Printed Item Image dialog, which enable you to set the properties of the preview images BarTender sends to the BarTender System Database.
