BarTender Document Password Dialog

The BarTender Document Password dialog, accessible via the File menu, allows you to set up a password to protect various aspects of the active BarTender document. When the user attempts to perform any of the protected actions, they will be prompted to enter the password. By default, no password is defined.

Once you enable password protection on one or more Protected Actions, and if you have enabled Remember Document Password Until Close, you can continue to work in BarTender as normal until you exit and reopen the application. When you reopen BarTender, the password protection you configured will prevent you from completing the actions until the password is provided.

Additionally, the password is now also required to access to the BarTender Document Password dialog.

Protected Actions

The Protected Actions section allows you to select which actions on the document you wish to protect. Any actions that are protected will prompt the user for the document password. If the correct password is not entered, the user will be prevented from performing the action. The following actions may be protected:

ClosedTo protect a VBScript

  1. Enable Modify Protected VB Script(s) in the BarTender Document Password dialog, and click OK.

  2. Open the VBScript you wish to protect in the Script Editor

  3. At the bottom of the Editor pane, enable Protected by Document Password. The next time a user tries to open this VBScript, they will have to enter the document password.

Remember Document Password Until Close

If this option is selected, then the user will only be asked to enter the password once. Once the correct password is entered, the document will stay unlocked for as long as it is open, and the user will be able to perform all of the protected actions without having to reenter the password.

If this option is unchecked, then the user will be prompted to enter the password every time they perform any of the protected actions. The action "Modify Template Design" is an exception to this; once the correct password is entered, a user will be able to modify the template for as long as the document is open.
