Adding Objects to Your Design

When you have a blank template (or design area) to work with, you can begin designing your printed items by adding objects to it. BarTender includes the following object types:

Barcode: Select from hundreds of barcode symbologies and specifications by using the Select Barcode dialog, or select a recently used symbology from the list.

Text: Add a simple text object to your template, or specify formatted text by entering RTF, HTML, or XAML code.

Line: Draw horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines.

Shape: Select from a variety of shapes, including rectangles, arrows, polygons, and more.

Picture: Import a picture into your design from an existing file on your computer.

Encoder: Add a magnetic stripe, RFID tag, or smart card encoder to your template.

The process for adding objects to your design is the same for all types of objects. After you have added an object, there are many ways to position it and customize it to your needs. For more information about how to modify your objects, refer to Creating and Modifying Template Objects.
