Setting Up BarTender to Read from Databases

When you need to read in data from a database, BarTender makes it easy to add a database connection and customize its settings with its database tools:

Add Database Connection Wizard. Allows you to select the type of database you want to connect with and establish the connection.
Database Connection Setup Dialog. Contains tabbed dialogs that allow you to customize the database connection as needed to optimize BarTender's ability to read the desired data. Customization includes configuring tables and views, creating joins and queries, creating custom sort order, and writing custom SQL statements. Additional tabs allow you to modify settings affecting the database connection, such as passwords and error messages, and to view database information.

If you have not previously connected to a database, selecting the icon from the main toolbar or selecting Database Connection Setup from the File menu will automatically launch the Add Database Connection Wizard. Once a database connection has been established, performing either of the actions will open the Database Connection Setup dialog.
