Header, Per Printed Item, and Footer Settings

When you specify that BarTender will generate a log file during a print job, you can specify settings to include certain data in the log file. These settings are located on the Header, Per Printed Item, and Footer tabs of the Print Job Text File Log Setup dialog. Most of the settings are available on all of the tabs; however, a few of the settings are available on just one or two of the tabs. Shown in parentheses after the name of each option is the name of the tab or tabs on which the setting is displayed.

Data To Log Options

• Bottommost Separator Line. (Footer) Includes a line to mark the end of the entire log entry.

• Copies. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the number specified in the Copies control of the Print dialog.

• Database File Name. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the name of the database file from which data was read if BarTender was connected to one at the time the print job was executed.

• Date (Long Format). (Per Printed Item) Includes the current system date with the month and year spelled out; i.e., January 1, 1999.

• Date (Short Format). (Per Printed Item) Includes the numeric equivalent of the current system date; i.e., 1/1/99.

• Document Name. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the file name of the document that was printed.

• End Date (Long Format). (Footer) Includes the date when the job finished printing with the month and year spelled out; i.e., January 1, 1999.

• End Date (Short Format). (Footer) Includes the numeric equivalent of the date when the job finished; i.e., 1/1/99.

• End Time. (Footer) Includes the system time when the job finished printing using the format specified in the regional settings.

• Item Height. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the height of the item as specified in the Page Setup dialog.

• Item Number. (Per Printed Item) Includes the sequential number of the items printed.

• Item Width. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the width of the item as specified in the Page Setup dialog.

• Log File Name. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the name of the log file.

• Number of Columns. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the number of columns on a single page of stock as specified in the Columns control, located on the Layout tab of the Page Setup dialog.

• Number of Items Printed. (Footer) Includes the total number of items printed.

• Number of Rows. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the number of rows on a single page of stock as specified in the Rows control, located on the Layout tab of the Page Setup dialog.

• Per Template Field Names. (Header) Includes a line with the field number or share names as specified in the Data Source property page.

• Printer Name. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the name of the printer on which the items were printed.

• Separator Line. (Header, Footer) Enters a line below the header or above the footer to separate the text from the list of data printed per item.

• Serial Numbers. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the number specified in the Serial Numbers control in the Print dialog.

• Start Date (Long Format). (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the date when the job started printing with the month and year spelled out; i.e., January 1, 1999.

• Start Date (Short Format). (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the numeric equivalent of the date when the job started printing; i.e., 1/1/99.

• Start Time. (Header, Per Printed Item, Footer) Includes the system time when the job started printing using the format specified in the regional settings.

• Time. (Per Printed Item) Includes the system time when the item was printed using the format specified in the regional settings.

• Topmost Separator Line. (Header) Includes a line to mark the beginning of the entire log entry.
