Embedding Pictures

Embedded pictures become a permanent part of a BarTender document, so even if the original picture file is moved, deleted or renamed, the picture in your template remains the same. This is the easiest type of picture to work with.

You may not need to embed a picture if what you want is a standard complex caution, warning, or hazardous materials symbol. Most of these are available in one of the special symbol "fonts" that come with BarTender. For more information, refer to Special Symbol Fonts.

You can embed a picture using one of the following methods:

ClosedInsert from File

  1. Select the icon on the object toolbar to display a list of all picture sources. Alternatively, select Picture from the Create menu.

  2. Select Insert from File to open the Select Picture dialog.

  3. In the Location field, select the drive and/or directory that contains the desired picture file.

  4. In the list box directly below the Location field, double-click on the name of the folder that contains the picture file. Continue double-clicking until you open the subfolder that contains the desired file.

  5. Select the desired picture file.

  6. Click Select to return to the template.

  7. Click at the desired location on the template to add the picture.

ClosedEmbedding Pictures via the "Drag and Drop" Method

  1. Locate the image that you want to import in Windows Explorer.

  2. Click on the image file, and drag it to a document open in BarTender.

  3. Release the mouse to insert the image on the template.

If the file type that you drop onto a template is not recognized by BarTender, you may receive an error message stating that the file is not a supported file type. In the event of this error, please verify that the object is a supported image format.
