Internet Mail Setup Dialog

The Internet Mail Setup dialog allows you to configure or create the Mail/Messaging system profile that BarTender will use to send messages. Unless you specify otherwise, BarTender will use the default profile of the computer's currently logged-in user.

You can access this dialog from the Alert Setup dialog by clicking the Setup button when Internet Mail (SMTP) is selected as the Mail System.

Sending Account

• From. Specifies the name or alias that appears with the e-mail address in the From field of the notification.

• E-mail Address. Specifies the e-mail address in the From field of the notification.

• Requires Authentication. When enabled, specifies that the mail server requires a user login before sending e-mails. Selecting this option will activate the User Name and Password options.

• User Name. Specifies the login name of the user whose e-mail account will be used by BarTender.

• Password. Specifies the password for the user name.

Outgoing Mail Options (SMTP)

• Mail Server. Specifies the name or location of the mail server.

• Port. Specifies the port that will be used when communicating with the mail server.

• Timeout. Defines how long BarTender attempts to send e-mail messages before it concludes that it cannot connect to the mail server.

• Encoding. Specifies the encoding used for the text of the e-mail message.

Click the Test button to ensure that BarTender can communicate with the mail server.
