Folder and File Locations Setup Dialog

The Folders tab contains a list of directories that BarTender uses to save and retrieve application-related files. To modify a location, simply highlight a folder type in the grid. Click on Select Location and navigate to the desired directory using the Browse for Folder dialog. If the desired directory is not present, you can create a new directory using the Create New Folder button.

You can select directories for the following BarTender components:

• Background Pictures. This directory is opened by default when you navigate to a picture you want to use as a background of a template. Background pictures can be set using the Background tab of the Page Setup dialog.

• BarTender Batch Files. This directory is opened by default when you navigate to a BarTender batch file you want to print. Batch files can be printed using the Print Batch option of the File menu.

• BarTender Documents. This directory defines where the documents that you create will be saved by default, unless you browse to a different directory in the Save As dialog.

• BTXML Scripts. This directory is opened by default when you navigate to a BTXML Script file you want to execute. BTXML Script files can be executed using the Run BTXML Script option of the File menu. If you open an BTXML Script file from another location, BarTender will use the selected location as the new default.

• Components. This directory defines where BarTender stores customized components in the Toolbox that you can reuse when designing new templates.

• Pictures. This directory will be opened by default when you browse to a picture you want to add to a template.

• RFID Antenna Images. This directory contains the images listed in the Image dropdown list on the RFID Antenna mini-tab.

To return any component to its default directory, click Reset Location to Default.

The File Locations tab contains a list of BarTender configuration files that define the behavior of the application. Using this tab, you can modify the location and/or select a different file name for each file. To do so, highlight the desired configuration file and select Select Location. Navigate to the desired directory and enter the desired filename for the configuration file.

The settings contained within each of BarTender's configuration files can be saved in a single XML document and transferred between instances of BarTender. To export all of the configuration files, select Export Settings to open the Save File dialog. Using this dialog, you can specify a file name and location for the BarTender settings file. To import settings saved from a different instance of BarTender, use the Import Settings option, and browse to the desired settings file.

You can select the locations of the following BarTender files using the File Locations tab:

• Advanced Printer and Driver Setup. Any changes made in the Advanced Printer and Driver Settings dialog are stored in a message file with the extension *.xml.

• License Management. Settings made in the Licensing Setup dialog are stored in the license management configuration file, BTLM.ini. Available only for the Automation or Enterprise Automation editions of BarTender.

• Message Setup. Any changes made in the Message Setup dialog are stored in a message file with the extension *.btm.

• Page Setup, Custom Stocks. BarTender is installed with size and layout definitions of most of the stock types of nearly every common manufacturer of media stock. If you create your own stock definitions, they will be stored in a stock file with the extension *.stk. Custom stock can be created and managed using the Stock tab of the Page Setup dialog.

• Printer Code Template Setup, Custom Print Systems. When you export printer code templates, you can either use a pre-defined system of delimiters and data field names (such as SAPscript-ITF) or define one of your own. These custom print systems are stored in a custom print systems file with the extension of *.xml. Custom print systems can be created and managed using the Printer Code Template Setup dialog.

• SAP IDoc Definition Setup. Any changes made in the IDoc Definitions Setup dialog are stored in a file with the extension *.itd.

• Scale Models Setup. All user-defined scale models and protocols are stored in a file with the extension *.xml.

• Scale Setup. All scales that are installed using the Add Scale Wizard are stored in a file with the extension *.xml. Installed scales can be managed using the Weighing Scale Setup dialog.

To return any configuration file to its default directory and file name, click Reset Location to Default.
