Licensing Setup Dialog

Required Edition

Automation, Enterprise Automation

When running an Automation edition of BarTender, the application must be able to communicate with Seagull License Server to monitor printer licensing. Each time a print request is initiated, BarTender will scan the network, searching for an installed instance of Seagull License Server running on a specified port. If BarTender is unable to connect to Seagull License Server, or a printer license is exceeded, BarTender will proceed to run in grace mode.

The Licensing Setup dialog, accessible from the Administer menu, allows you to configure BarTender's connection to the Seagull License Server. When the Automatically Find Seagull License Server option is selected, BarTender will scan the network attempting to connect to Seagull License Server on the specified port. Otherwise, you can specify the network location of the Seagull License Server using the options in this dialog.

If Seagull License Server is running behind a network router, selecting Automatically Find Seagull License Server will not locate the server. To connect to the Seagull License Server, enter the network address into the Preferred section below.

Preferred

You can configure the connection to the main Seagull License Server using the Preferred section of the Licensing Setup dialog.

Alternate (Optional)

In the event that BarTender cannot connect to the preferred Seagull License Server, you can specify the network location of another installed instance of Seagull License Server. The alternate Seagull License Server must be installed and activated independently of the preferred Seagull License Server, requiring the purchase of an additional software license. By using an alternate server, you can minimize the risk of production outage due to network connectivity issues.

Any settings made in the Licensing Setup dialog are stored in a configuration file at the location specified in the Folder and File Locations Setup dialog, accessible via the Administer menu.
