BarTender

BarTender is the world's leading design and print software for labels, barcodes, cards and RFID tags. All editions of BarTender feature easy, stand-alone design and printing. For more advanced users, the Automation and Enterprise Automation editions offer powerful integration features.

BarTender utilizes individual dialogs and menu options to control every aspect of creating, designing, and printing your items. You can reference BarTender's extensive help system at any time by pressing the F1 key on your keyboard or clicking the Help button from within the corresponding dialog.

Installation

From CD: Place the disk into your drive, click on the Install option and follow the instructions.

From the Web: Download the installer from Seagull Scientific, run it and follow the instructions.

Using the BarTender Help System

The BarTender help system is divided into several sections:

Configuring BarTender. This section describes the use of BarTender's configuration dialogs, which allow you to set the default version of BarTender, connect to the Seagull License Server, and setup print job and message logging.
Using the BarTender Interface. This section describes the components of BarTender's user interface, including main menus, toolbars, toolbox, keyboard shortcuts, and context menus.
Creating and Modifying Documents and Templates. This section describes how to open and save BarTender documents, create multiple templates, and modify page setup options.
Creating and Modifying Template Objects. This section describes how to add a variety of objects to a template; additionally, this section describes how to modify the appearance of objects on a template.
Working with Data Sources. This section describes how to populate the data for an object on the template.
Enabling Data Entry at Print-Time. This section describes how to enter data into an object at print-time.
Reading Data From Databases. This section describes how to configure BarTender to import data into objects on your template from various kinds of databases, including ODBC (Open Data Base Connectivity), OLE DB, SAP IDocs, and text files.
Printing. This section describes how to specify a printer, set available printing options, and print items from BarTender.
Visual Basic Scripting. This section describes how to create scripts that execute at print-time in BarTender's internal scripting engine.

Automating BarTender. This section describes the ways in which BarTender can be automated.

Companion Applications. This section contains the help system of each of BarTender's companion applications. The availability of these help systems and applications depends on the activated edition of BarTender as well as the installation of the associated companion applications.
