Linked Data Source Property Page

The Linked Data Source property page of the Control Properties dialog lets you easily link data sources to a specific control on the data entry form. The Data Source Properties button lets you modify the properties of the selected data source, including its name, data type, and transforms.

ClosedTo link a data source to a Data Entry Control

  1. Double-click on the control that you want to bind to an existing data source to open the Control Properties dialog. Alternatively, you can open the context menu for the control and select Properties.

  2. Select Linked Data Source from the list of available property pages.

  3. From the Data Sources pane, select the data source that you want.

    Each data source can only be bounded to one object. Therefore, you will be unable to select a data source that is already linked to a control on the form of the open document.

  4. Click Close to apply the changes and close the dialog.

You can also link a data source to a data entry control by clicking on and dragging the data source from the Data Sources pane of the Toolbox to the control that you want on the data entry form.

You can connect any of the following types of data sources to your control:

ClosedPrint Dialog Data Sources

The Print Dialog Data Sources node enables you to link the number of copies or serial numbers to a control on the data entry form. Each time the data entry form is displayed, the user can enter the number of copies they want to print directly on the form.

ClosedNamed Data Sources

The Named Data Sources node lists all of the named data sources defined in your document. For more information, refer to Creating Named Data Sources.

ClosedTemplate Object Data Sources

The Template Object Data Sources node lists all of the objects on your template(s). For each object, you can access its data sources, and choose one to link to the control on your data entry form.

Using the Scale Display Control

When using scale display controls, the Linked Data Source property page contains an additional pane: the Properties pane. This pane enables you to set different data sources for each of the weights obtained by BarTender.
