Adding a Linked Printer

Use the Printers page to add a linked printer to this BarTender Cloud tenant. Use the Printer Details page to modify or remove a linked printer. A linked printer must be weblink enabled and part of Seagull Software's Universal Printer driver.

ClosedTo open the Printers page

  1. Click to open the BarTender Cloud menu.

  2. On the BarTender Cloud menu, click Administration to open the Administration menu.

  3. Click Printers.

ClosedTo open the Printer Details page

To display this page, use one of the following methods in the printer list table on the Printers page:

  • Click the name of the printer. When you do this, the Printer Info tab of the Printer Details page is displayed.

  • Click for the printer. When you do this, the Queue tab of the Printer Details page is displayed.

ClosedTo edit a linked printer

  1. On the Printer Details page, click the Edit tab.

  2. Edit the details for the linked printer. These details appear on the Printer Info tab.

  3. Click Edit Location Nodes to open the Edit Location Tree dialog where you can edit the location nodes.

  4. Click Save Changes.

ClosedTo remove a linked printer

  1. On the Printer Details page, click the Edit tab.

  2. Click the Unlink Printer button.

  3. Confirm that you want to remove the linked printer.

    Unlinking a printer will interrupt any currently active print jobs for that printer.

Removing a linked printer does not affect Print History, since these records are retained by BarTender Cloud.

Specific Instructions for Linking a Printer

The methods for linking a printer to BarTender Cloud are largely similar, but do vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

ClosedTo add a linked printer from the Printers page

  1. On the Printers page, click Add Linked Printer.

  2. In the Add Linked Printer dialog, select TSC and click Next.

  3. In the Certificate field, click Download Certificate.

    • BarTender Cloud downloads a zip file containing .crt, .key, and .pom files.

    The MQTT URL and MQTT Port fields in this dialog are already populated and should not be changed.

  4. Click to open the QR Code field.

  5. Scan the QR code to link to the server, then click Start Discovery.

  6. The dialog displays a list of available printers to add. Select the printer to add and click Next.

  7. Configure the printer information.

    • Model: Displays the model of the selected printer.
    • Serial Number: Displays the serial number of the selected printer.
    • Friendly Name: Displays the user-friendly name for the printer. This name can be change if needed.
    • Description: Enter a description of the printer, for example, "#2 for line A in Chicago warehouse." This description cannot begin with a space.
  8. Click Create.

  9. When the printer successfully connects, click Edit Printer to open the Edit tab on the Printer Details page, or click Close.

    The linked printer displays in the list on the Printers page.

ClosedTo view or delete a certificate

  1. On the Printer Details page, click the Printer Certificate tab.

  2. View in the information in the following fields:

    • Certificate: Displays the name of the zip file containing the certificate.

    • Date Created: Displays the date the certificate was first downloaded.

    • Date Expires: Displays the date the certificate expires.

  3. To download a copy of the printer's certificate, click Download.

    • BarTender Cloud downloads a zip file containing .crt, .key, and .pom files.

  4. To remove a certificate from a printer, click Delete Certificate and confirm that you want to remove it.

    BarTender Could displays a warning that the current printer has no certificate and that a certificate is necessary to connect the printer.

  5. Click Create to create and install a new certificate for the printer.

ClosedTo configure a TSC printer

  1. After linking a printer, connect the printer to the network and find its IP address. This should show on the printer’s display.

  2. Enter the IP address in your browser and use the user name and password given to you.

  3. In the menu on the server page, click Tool, then File Manager.

  4. In the Upload File field on the FIle Manager page, select FLASH, then click Choose File.

  5. Choose a file from the certificate download and click the Upload button

    • Repeat for each of the files in the download.

  6. From the menu, click Function, then MQTT Settings.

  7. Click Set to initiate the connection.

    • If the connection is successful, a log message displays.

    • If the connection is unsuccessful, click Set again to begin a reconnection.

Closed To add a linked printer from the Printers page

  1. On the Printers page, click Add Linked Printer.

  2. In the Add Linked Printer dialog, select Zebra and click Next.

  3. Click to open the QR Code field.

  4. Scan the QR code to link to the server, then click Start Discovery.

  5. The dialog displays a list of available printers to add. Select the printer to add and click Next.

  6. Configure the printer information.

    • Model: Displays the model of the selected printer.
