Supported Image Formats

You can use BarTender to import and export the following raster and vector formats. In some cases, only specific format sub-types and versions are supported.

*.afp

Advanced Function Presentation, which was created as part of the IBM® document imaging system.

 

*.ani

Animation file, which is used to store Windows animated cursors.

 

*.bmp

Windows Bitmap file.

*.cal

CALS Raster image format, which is usually ITU-T type compressed bitonal images.

 

*.cgm

Computer Graphics Metafile, which is used to exchange vector and bitmap data.

 

*.cin

Kodak Cinson file.

*.clp

Microsoft Windows Clipboard format, which is used to store the contents of the Clipboard to disk.

*.cmp

LEAD compressed format for grayscale and color images, which results in smaller files that have better image quality.

*.cmx

Corel Presentation Exchange (CMX) file format, which is used with the Corel® Suite applications.

 

*.cur

Format that is used to store Windows cursors.

 

*.cut

Format for device-independent images with a color palette that is stored in a *.pal file (if the image has no .pal file, it is considered to be a grayscale image).

*.dcr

Format for professional digital camera files.

 

*.dgn

Format that is used with the Intergraph 3® MicroStation and Interactive Graphics System (IGDS).

 

*.drw

Format that is used in the Micrografx Designer CAD/CAM/CAE application.

 

*.dwf

Binary file format that is used by AutoDesk AutoCAD® that typically contains information about a CAD design, including graphics and text. Files saved in the .dwf format are highly compressed, making them easier to download and transmit. BarTender supports the import of .dwf file versions 4, 5, 5.5, and 6.

 

*.dwg

Binary file format that is used by AutoDesk AutoCAD that can contain two-dimensional or three-dimensional objects. BarTender supports the import of .dwg files that are created in AutoCAD Release 12 through Release 14, AutoCAD 2000, AutoCAD 2002, and AutoCAD 2004 through 2006.

 

*.dxf

ASCII file that was first introduced by AutoDesk AutoCAD that contains two-dimensional and three-dimensional components. BarTender supports .dxf files that are created in AutoCAD Release 18 and earlier versions.

 

*.ecw

Enhanced Compressed Wavelet file.

*.emf

Enhanced Windows Metafiles, which are vector files that can contain a raster image.

*.exf

Standard format for image files that are created by using digital cameras and other input devices (also *.tif, *.jpg).

*.fax

Standard fax file format.

 

*.fit

Flexible Image Transport System file.

 

*.flc

Animation file that is created by AutoDesk (also *.fli).

*.fpx

FlashPix, which was created by Eastman Kodak Company®, Microsoft Corporation®, Hewlett-Packard Company®, and Live Picture Inc. (Sonic Solutions®) to make the use of digital color images easier.

*.gbr

Gerber Vector format, which is used by GerbTools, ViewMate, and CamTastic for transferring printed circuit board information.

Graphics Interchange Format, which is an 8-bit per pixel bitmap image format.

*.ica

Image Object Content Architecture (IOCA), which was developed by IBM and which houses Presentation Text Object Architecture (PTOCA) data objects.

Format that is used to store Windows icons.

 

*.iff

Interchange File Format, which is a general-purpose data storage format.

*.img

File that contains the raw information dump of the contents of a file or disk.

Intergraph (ITG) format bitmap image (also *.cit) file.

Joint Pictures Experts Group, which is a standard method of compression for photographic images (also *.jpeg, *.jtf).

Format for printing line drawings, which was created by Hewlett-Packard (also *.hpgl).

Portable Network Graphics, which was created by CompuServe® to replace the *.gif format.

Portable Pixmap Utilities, which is a format that can read and write 24 bits per pixel.
