Printing the Weight

You can use any of the following methods to print the weight after it is captured:

For more information about how to configure weight capture options, refer to Capturing the Weight.

User-Initiated Printing

You may want to use user-initiated (manual) printing if you want to view each item's weight before you print. If you want to accept each weight before you print, you can add a Capture/Redo button to your scale display control.

ClosedTo print a document by using the data entry form

When you use this method, you can print your document with a single click. You can view the weight before you print, but you cannot accept each weight before you print. This means that if the scale display control displays an unsatisfactory result, you must remove the item from the scale and re-weigh it to get a new reading.

To print your document by using the data entry form, follow these steps:

  1. Complete any manual data entry that is required on the form.

  2. Place the item to be weighed on the scale.

  3. When you are satisfied with the reading on the scale display, click the Print button on the data entry form. BarTender automatically captures the weight, and your document is printed.

ClosedTo print a document by using the Capture/Redo button

Use a manual Capture/Redo button when you want to accept and capture the stable weight before you print your document and when you want to be able to redo a capture if you are not satisfied with the initial result.

To print your document by using the Capture/Redo button, follow these steps:

  1. Complete any manual data entry that is required on the form.

  2. Place the item to be weighed on the scale.

  3. When you are satisfied with the reading on the scale display, click the Capture button. The weight is copied to the linked data source, and the Capture button changes into a Redo button. (To recapture the weight, click the Redo button. BarTender recalculates the weight, and the Redo button changes back into a Capture button.)

  4. When you are satisfied with the captured weight, click the Print button on the scale data entry form. The print job is sent to the printer.

Automated, Scale-Initiated Printing

You can use the Scale property page to configure BarTender to print your documents automatically when it senses a stable weight.
