Number of Characters Dialog |
Use the Number of Characters dialog to specify how many characters can appear in the selected data source. You can also use the settings in this dialog to instruct BarTender how to behave if the minimum and/or maximum limits are not met.
You can open this dialog by using one of the following methods:
For template objects, click next to Number of Characters on the Transforms tab of the Data Sources property page.
For data entry controls, click next to Number of Characters on the Data Entry property page.
For query prompts, click next to Number of Characters on the More Query Prompt Options dialog.
The following options are available.
Minimum Number of Characters
Require minimum number of characters: Specifies that a minimum number of characters is required for the selected data source.
Minimum Number of Characters: Specifies the minimum number of characters that is required in the selected data source.
Pad On: Specifies whether extra characters are inserted on the left or right side of the existing data if the data source does not contain the minimum number of characters.
Pad Character: Specifies the character to append to the existing data if the data source does not contain the minimum number of characters.
Warn when minimum not met: Instructs BarTender to deliver a warning at print time when the data source does not contain the minimum number of characters.
Maximum Number of Characters
Limit maximum number of characters: Specifies that the maximum number of characters is limited for the selected data source.
Maximum Number of Characters: Specifies the maximum number of characters for the selected data source.
Warn when maximum exceeded: Instructs BarTender to deliver a warning at print time when the number of characters exceeds the maximum.
