Properties Dialog

The Properties dialog displays information about a selected folder, file, or revision. You can use this dialog to examine items to determine their location, size, or contents or to view a print preview of a document. The information that the dialog includes varies depending on the type of item that is selected.

The following Properties dialogs are available.

ClosedFolder Properties

To open the Properties dialog for a folder, use one of the following methods:

The Properties dialog for a folder includes the following tabs.

The Security tab appears when the Enable Security for this computer check box is selected on the Security page in Administration Console.

ClosedDetails Tab

  • Location: Indicates the path to the selected folder in Librarian.

  • Size: Indicates the size of the selected folder and the files that it contains.

  • Contains: Indicates the number of files and folders that reside in the selected folder.

ClosedSecurity Tab

  • Object name: Indicates the path to the selected folder in Librarian.

  • Inherit permissions from parent folder: Specifies that the permissions for the folder are the same as those of the parent folder.

  • Group or user names: Lists the names of the users or groups that currently have allow (or deny) permissions to access the folder. When you right-click a user or group in this pane, a menu is displayed that includes the following options:

    • Allow All: Specifies that the Allow check box is selected for all permissions.

    • Deny All: Specifies that the Deny check box is selected for all permissions.

    • Remove: Removes the selected user or group from the list.

    • Effective Permissions: Opens the Effective Permissions dialog, which displays the actions that are allowed or denied for the currently selected user or group based on the current permissions settings, which include permissions that are inherited from groups to which the user or group belongs.

  • Add: Opens the Add User or Group dialog, which you can use to select additional users and groups to assign permissions to.

  • Remove: Deletes the currently selected user or group from the Group or user names list and removes their permissions.

  • Permissions for: Lists the permissions that can be allowed or denied for the selected user or group. When you right-click this pane, a menu is displayed that includes the following options:

    • Allow All: Specifies that the Allow check box is selected for all permissions.

    • Deny All: Specifies that the Deny check box is selected for all permissions.

ClosedDetails Tab

  • Name: Indicates the name of the selected file.

  • Location: Indicates the path to the selected file in the repository.

  • State: Indicates the state of the selected file.

  • Revision: Indicates the revision number of the selected file. If you select a file in the Files pane, the revision is the head revision.

  • File Status: Indicates the status of the selected file.

  • Size: Indicates the size of the selected file.

  • Modified: Indicates the date and time when the selected file was last modified.

  • Preview: Provides a preview of the selected file.

ClosedSecurity Tab

  • Object name: Indicates the path to the selected file in Librarian.
