BarTender supports unique from Seagull Scientific that you can use to add standard industry-specific symbols to text objects on your and and then easily resize and format them to fit your design needs.
To insert a symbol into a new text object

On the Create menu, click Text to display a list of available text objects. Alternatively, click the icon on the object toolbar.

In the list of text objects, click Symbol Font Characters to open the Insert Symbols or Special Characters dialog.

In the Font list, click the Seagull that you want.

In the preview images area, click the symbol that you want, and then click Insert.

Click the template or at the location where you want to insert the symbol.
To insert a symbol into an existing text object

Double-click the text object to open the Text Properties dialog. Alternatively, click Properties on the object's .

Click the that you want. The Data Sources property page is displayed.

On the Data Source tab, select the entire contents of the Embedded Data field, so that you can replace the contents with the Seagull symbol.

Click the icon to open the Insert Symbols or Special Characters dialog.

In the Font list, click the Seagull font that you want.

In the preview images area, click the symbol that you want, and then click Insert to insert the symbol into the Embedded Data field on the Data Sources property page.

Click Close. The symbol is visible in the Embedded Data field.

Click Close to close the Text Properties dialog.
Using Shortcut Keys to Add Seagull Font Symbols to Your Document
Shortcut keys are available for many of the Seagull font symbols. When you routinely use an industry-specific symbol in your designs, it might be faster to add your symbol by using its shortcut key. To use this feature, you must first find the shortcut key for the symbol that you want.
To find a symbol's shortcut key

On the Create menu, click Text to display a list of available text objects. Alternatively, click the icon on the object toolbar.

In the list of text objects, click Symbol Font Characters to open the Insert Symbols or Special Characters dialog.

In the Font list, click the Seagull font that you want.

In the preview images area, click the symbol that you want. Note the shortcut key that is displayed on the left side of the dialog, below the preview images and just above the Recently Used Characters area.
For example, the shortcut key that is displayed for the following Seagull: Recycling font symbol is Latin Capital Letter F, so the shortcut key is "F".
To add a symbol to a template by using the symbol's shortcut key

On the Create menu, click Text to display a list of available text objects. Alternatively, click the icon on the object toolbar.

In the list of text objects, click Normal, Normal Wrapped, or one of the transformed text object types. For more information, refer to Types of Text Objects.

Click the template or form at the location where you want to insert the text object.

Click the text of the text object to highlight the default sample text.

Enter a shortcut key.

On the BarTender text toolbar, click the Seagull font that you want. The shortcut key that you entered becomes the symbol.

You can also create the text object on the template, apply the Seagull font to it, and then subsequently read the shortcut key into the text object from a database field.
