ClosedCreating Keyboard Shortcuts

By using the Customize dialog, you can create and manage keyboard shortcuts for toolbar buttons and menu commands.

ClosedTo add a keyboard shortcut to a command

  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. In the Cusomize dialog, click the Keyboard tab.

  3. Select a menu category from the Category list. The available commands that are included in that category appear in the Commands list.

  4. Select the command that you want to edit from the Commands list. Any shortcut keys that are currently assigned to that command appear in the Key assignments list.

  5. Click in the Press new shortcut key input box and then press the combination of keyboard keys that you want for the new key assignment. For example, if you want the shortcut to be Shift+P, click in the input box and then press Shift followed by P.

  6. Click Assign to create the shortcut key. The new assignment appears in the Key assignments list.

  7. If you enter a key assignment that is already being used, a warning message informs you that the shortcut is currently assigned and asks whether you want to reassign the keyboard shortcut. If you click Yes, BarTender reassigns the shortcut. If you click No, the shortcut is not assigned and you are returned to the Keyboard tab to enter a new key assignment.

ClosedTo delete a keyboard shortcut for a command

  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. In the Customize dialog, click the Keyboard tab.

  3. Select a menu category from the Category list. The available commands that are included in that category appear in the Commands list.

  4. Select the command that you want to edit from the Commands list. Any shortcut keys that are currently assigned to that command appear in the Key assignments list.

  5. Select the key assignment that you want to delete in the Key assignments list.

  6. Click Remove.

To change a keyboard shortcut, you must delete it and then create a new shortcut. To remove all of your custom keyboard shortcuts and return all commands to their default key assignments, click Reset All on the Keyboard tab of the Customize dialog.
