User Preferences Dialog |
Use the User Preferences dialog, which you can access from the Tools menu, to specify many of the BarTender appearance and general performance options. Additionally, you can configure the BarTender startup behavior, specify what happens when you create a new BarTender document, and select an alternative language in which to run the application.
The following tabs are available.
The General tab specifies the BarTender appearance and behavior under certain conditions. The following options are available.
Appearance
Theme: Specifies the active color theme for the BarTender user interface.
Show font samples in typeface list: Displays a preview of each font in the list of the text toolbar. If you have performance issues with your computer, you may want to clear this check box.
Sort typeface list by font type: Sorts typefaces by type, such as printer fonts and TrueType fonts.
Objects outside template appear ghosted: Displays objects that are placed outside the template borders as having a faded or "ghosted" appearance.
Show RFID antenna on template: Hides or shows the image on the template that represents an item's RFID antenna.
Behavior
Immediate print from toolbar: Specifies that you can click the icon on the main toolbar to print the current document by using the default printer settings without opening the Print dialog.
Allow single click to enter on-screen edit mode: Specifies that you can enter object edit mode with a single click instead of by clicking Edit on the object's context menu.
Show tooltip when snapping: Displays the tooltip for the Snap to Object or Ruler shortcut on the view toolbar each time an object is moved or resized and snapping is used.
Set anchor when snapping: Resets the anchors of objects that are moved or resized when the Snap to Object or Ruler option is selected. For more information, refer to Object Snapping.
Minimize Location: Specifies the location in Windows where BarTender is minimized.
Use the Startup tab to configure how BarTender behaves when you first start it and when you create a new document. The following options are available.
Application Startup
Action: Specifies how BarTender behaves when you first start it. The following options are available:
Show Startup Dialog: Displays a Welcome dialog that asks how you would like to begin working with BarTender.
Start a New Document: Creates a new document that is based on the setting in the New Document Behavior section.
Open an Existing Document: Opens the Open Document dialog, which you can use to browse to and open an existing document on your computer.
None: Causes BarTender to open without displaying any dialogs or documents.
New Document Behavior
This section specifies how BarTender behaves when you create a new document by clicking New on the File menu or by clicking the icon on the main toolbar. For more information, refer to Creating a New Document.
The following options are available:
Run wizard: Starts the New Document wizard, which takes you through the process of setting up the page specifications and template background options.
Immediately create blank template: Opens a blank template that is based on the default shape and size settings of the Windows default printer.
Start based on existing BarTender document: Opens a copy of the BarTender document that is specified in the Document field. To specify a document, enter the path and file name, or click Browse to browse to the file location that you want.
The Regional Settings tab defines the language that is used for the BarTender user interface.
Language
Language: Specifies the language that BarTender uses to display its menus and dialogs.
