Security Property Page

The Security property page is located on the Encoder Properties dialog for RFID tags that support security features, such as locking the tags after encoding. While these access control settings are supported on a global basis by the printer driver's RFID Options page, the Security property page enables you to specify different passwords for each document, or even for each database record.

Only the passwords being used can vary per database record. The blocks that are being manipulated (locked, unlocked, etc.) cannot change per record. For example, if you set EPC Block to Lock, it will then attempt to lock each time, but the password used for the lock can be pulled per-record from a database source.

Access Control

The access control settings available on the Security property page depend on the RFID tag you have selected.

ClosedEPC Gen 2 (ISO 18000-6C) Tags

For EPC Gen 2 (ISO 18000-6C) tags, the Access Control settings specify whether a particular memory block type is open or locked. The specific memory blocks available, and the available settings you can specify for those memory blocks, depend on the printer you have selected for the document. When a memory block is locked, an encoder cannot alter the data in the specified memory block.
