Adding and Removing Menus

By using the Customize dialog, you can add both default menus and custom menus to toolbars, add and remove commands from custom menus, and delete menus that you previously added to a toolbar.

You can add both default menus and custom menus to a toolbar.

ClosedTo add a default BarTender menu to a toolbar

  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. In the Customize dialog, click the Commands tab.

  3. In the Categories list, click Built-in Menus.

  4. Drag the menu that you want from the Commands list to the toolbar on which you want to place it until an insertion bar appears on the toolbar at the location where you want it.

  5. Click Close to close the Customize dialog.

ClosedTo add a custom menu to a toolbar

  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. In the Customize dialog, click the Commands tab.

  3. In the Categories list, click New Menu.

  4. Drag New Menu from the Commands list to the toolbar on which you want to place it until an insertion bar appears on the toolbar at the location where you want it.

  5. Open the context menu for the new menu, click Name, enter the name for the menu in the input box as you want it to appear on the toolbar, and then Press Enter to apply the new name.

  6. On the Commands tab of the Customize dialog, add the buttons and commands that you want on your custom menu, as follows:

    1. In the Categories list, select the category that contains the command that you want to add to the menu.

    2. Drag the command that you want from the Commands list to the to the custom menu to open the menu and display the insertion bar.

    3. Continue to drag the command to the place in the menu where you want the command to appear.

  7. Click Close to close the Customize dialog.

ClosedAdding and Removing Commands on Custom Menus

By using the Customize dialog, you can add commands and toolbar buttons to custom menus and remove them at any time.

ClosedTo add a command to a custom menu

  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. In the Customize dialog, click the Commands tab.

  3. In the Categories list, select the category that contains the command that you want to add to the menu.

  4. Drag the command that you want from the Commands list to the custom menu to open the menu and display the insertion bar in the location on the menu where you want it to appear.

ClosedTo remove a command from a custom menu

  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. Open the custom menu that contains the command that you want to remove.

  3. Click the command that you want to remove, and then drag it away from the menu.

ClosedDeleting Toolbar Menus

Use this method to delete both default and custom menus that you added to the toolbar.

  1. On the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Customize to open the Customize dialog. Alternatively, open the context menu for any toolbar in the application, and then click Customize.

  2. Open the context menu for the menu that you want to delete, and then click Delete.
