Restricting Folder Visibility

By default, all users can access all of the root folders that you define. However, you can limit the visibility of a root folder based on the user name of the person who is logged into the computer. In this way, you can set up a "permission" based system, so that only authorized users can access specific root folders.

ClosedTo limit visibility of a root folder

  1. From the Administrative Setup Options menu, click Administrative Setup to open the corresponding dialog.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click Root Folders.

  3. In the Root Folders list, click the folder that you want to protect.

  4. Under Visibility, click to select Visible to selected users and groups.

  5. Click Add to open the Add User or Group dialog.

  6. Select the users and groups that you want to add. You can refine the users and groups in the list by selecting a Location or by entering search criteria, such as a user or group name.

    To select multiple entities, press Ctrl on your keyboard and click the users or groups that you want.

  7. Click OK to close the Add User or Group dialog.

  8. Click OK to close the Administrative Setup dialog.
