Printing BarTender Documents

Before a document can be printed, Print Station must retrieve information about the selected document. While the information is being retrieved, the Reading Document page is displayed. This page has two components: a preview image of the selected document and a progress bar that runs until the document is completely read. When you point to the preview image, a tooltip appears that displays the file name and comments about the selected document.

The Reading Document page does not appear if the On mouse click: Immediately print option is selected in the Administrative Setup dialog.

The Print page provides the user with options to select the printer, to configure the number of copies, and to begin printing. The Print page is not displayed if the On mouse click: Immediately print option is selected in the Administrative Setup dialog.

• Print: Starts the print job. BarTender opens the selected document, prints, prompts the user for input if required, and returns the print job message status. While printing is in progress, the Printing page is displayed.

• Print Preview. Opens a full-screen preview of the document as it will appear on the page.

Printer

• Name: Displays a list of available printers, which you can use to select a printer for printing the item. If the document has the "Use Default Printer" option selected, then the local computer's default printer is selected. The Printer Name control is unavailable if the Disable printer selection option is selected on the Security property page of the Administrative Setup dialog.

• Port: Displays the selected printer's port.

Quantity

• Copies: Specifies the number of identical copies to be printed. The initial value comes from the value that is specified in the selected document. If serialization is configured for any of the data sources in the document, this option appears as Copies per Serial Number.

• Serial Numbers: Specifies the number of serialized items to be printed. The initial value comes from the value that is specified in the selected document. This option is available only if serialization is configured on any data source in the document.

  If you specify the number of serialized items to print, Print Station automatically saves the document after it prints the item. The next time that you print, the serialized field is set to the next number in the sequence.

The Printing Document page is displayed while the print job is running. The progress bar is displayed until the print job is finished, and then the Print Results dialog is displayed.
