Adding a File

When you add a file to Librarian, you enable users on the network to access the file from the BarTender System Database. Subsequent edits or changes to the file are then also recorded to the BarTender System Database, which users can use to revert to or track previous changes that were made to a file.

  1. In the Library directory, select the folder that you want to add the file to.

  2. Open the Add File(s) dialog by using one of the following methods:

    • On the File menu, click Add.

    • In the Folders pane, right-click the folder or anywhere in the pane, and then click Add.

    • In the Files pane, right-click anywhere, and then click Add.

  3. Browse to and then select the file that you want, and then click Add.

  4. Enter a comment in the Comments field if required. If you want to keep the file checked out for editing, click to select the Leave file checked out check box.

  5. Click Add.

  6. After you save a file to the Librarian repository, it can be accessed from other applications of the BarTender Suite by using the lib://<folder>/<file> path. It can also be accessed by using ActiveX Automation, BarTender XML (BTXML) script, and the command-line interface.
