Scale Dialog / Scale Templates Dialog |
Use the Scale dialog and Scale Templates dialog to quickly resize template objects.
You can use the Scale dialog on a single template when you want to resize one or more objects. To do this, use one of the following methods:
Set the width and height dimensions for the entire block of selected objects.
Specify the scale percentage by which you want to enlarge or diminish the objects.
You can use the Scale Templates dialog to quickly resize all of the objects on all of the templates in your document at the same time. This dialog is available only when you change the size settings for the page or the template on the Page Setup dialog.
Whenever you make this type of change, you are prompted to specify whether the designs on the template should be scaled automatically. If you click Yes, the Scale Templates dialog opens. Any settings that you specify in the Scale Templates dialog are applied to all objects on each of the templates in your document.
To open the Scale Templates dialog
The following options are available on the dialog.
|
Some options may be read-only or hidden depending on whether you are using the Scale dialog or the Scale Templates dialog and depending on the types of objects that are included in the scaling process. |
Current Size
Current Width: Specifies the current width of the block of selected objects. Read-only on the Scale Templates dialog.
Current Height: Specifies the current height of the block of selected objects. Read-only on the Scale Templates dialog.
New Size
New Width: Specifies the width that you want to apply to the block of selected objects. Enter the new width dimension into the size input box. Alternatively, enter the percentage that you want into the percentage input box, or use the list to select a preset percentage value. Read-only on the Scale Templates dialog.
New Height: Specifies the height that you want to apply to the block of selected objects. Enter the new height dimension into the size input box. Alternatively, enter the percentage that you want into the percentage input box, or use the list to select a preset percentage value. Read-only on the Scale Templates dialog.
Scaling Options
|
Usually, scaling options are logically independent from settings that are specified in an object's Properties dialog. However, an object's type and settings can affect how scaling options are applied. For example, the width-to-height ratio for a barcode object is not precisely preserved even when you select the Scale Proportionally option, because barcode objects must be resized at specific intervals in order to remain readable. In this case, the object’s own settings take precedence over the selected scaling option. |
Text: The Text scaling property specifies how the text component of the selected objects is scaled.
Do Not Scale: Specifies that the text of the selected objects is not scaled.
Scale Proportionally: Specifies that the width-to-height ratio of a selected object's text is preserved when it is scaled.
Scale Freely: Specifies that the text of the selected objects is scaled without preserving width-to-height ratio.
Barcodes: The Barcodes scaling property specifies how the selected barcode objects are scaled.
Do Not Scale: Specifies that the selected barcode objects are not scaled.
Scale Proportionally: Specifies that the width-to-height ratio of the selected barcode objects is preserved when it is scaled.
Scale Freely: Specifies that the selected barcode objects are scaled without preserving width-to-height ratio.
Pictures: The Pictures scaling property specifies how a selected picture object is scaled.
|
When a picture object's Sizing Method property is set to Percentage of Original Size and you choose the Scale Freely option, the Sizing Method property is changed to Stretch to Rectangle so that the picture actually can be scaled freely. |
Do Not Scale: Specifies that selected picture objects are not scaled.
Scale Proportionally: Specifies that the width-to-height ratio of the selected picture objects is preserved when it is scaled.
Scale Freely: Specifies that the selected picture objects are scaled without preserving width-to-height ratio.
Lines: The Lines scaling property specifies how you want to scale the line thickness of line and shape objects and any borders of selected text and barcode objects. A line object's length is always adjusted according to the new size that is specified.
Maintain Thickness: Specifies that the line thickness is not scaled.
Scale Thickness: Specifies that the line thickness is scaled.
