Customize Card Layout Dialog |
Use the Customize Card Layout dialog to customize the design settings for the card template for your list box or record picker control. You can access this dialog by clicking Customize Card Layout on the List Box or Record Picker property page when the Custom Cards type is selected.
This dialog includes the following components.
Use this tab to configure the appearance of the various card elements.
Reset Template Card: Resets the card settings to the defaults.
Shrink Template Card: Resizes the card to be smaller.
Layout Generate Options
Default Column Count: Specifies the number of columns that are visible by default.
Indents
Padding: Adjusts the amount of white space that appears around the fields.
Spacing: Adjusts the spacing between fields.
Text Indents: Adjusts the amount by which the data fields are indented from the field caption.
Captions
Field Caption Location: Specifies the location of the field caption.
Group Caption Location: Specifies the location of the group caption.
Field Caption Text Alignment: Specifies the alignment of the field caption text.
Template Card: Displays a preview of the card. When you right-click any field in the preview, the following options are available:
Hide Customization Form/Customize Layout: Hides and shows the customization pane on the right side of the tab.
Best Fit: Specifies that the best fit is automatically selected.
Size Constraints: Specifies any size constraints that you want to configure. You can restore the default settings; configure a free-sizing option; or lock the size, width, or height of the field.
Rename: Specifies a new name for the field.
Hide Text/Show Text: Hides or shows the field caption text.
Text Position: Specifies the location of the field caption.
Hide Item: Removes the selected field from the preview and adds it to the Hidden Items pane. To re-add the item, drag it from the Hidden Items pane to the preview pane.
Group: Creates a new group within the selected field.
Create Tabbed Group: Creates a new tabbed group within the selected field.
Add Item: Adds a new label, separator line, or splitter line to the selected field.
Add Empty Space Item: Adds a new empty space item to the selected field.
Hidden Items: Displays items that you can add to the preview pane: an empty space item, a label, and a separator line. To add these items, drag them from the Hidden Items pane to the preview pane.
This pane also displays fields that were hidden from the preview pane by clicking Hide Item or by dragging the field to the pane. You can drag these fields to the preview pane to re-add them there.
Layout Tree View: Displays the structure of the cards in the preview pane by using a tree view. You can drag items in this pane to change their order.
You can use this tab to make changes to your custom cards and preview those changes in real time. You can also use this tab to see how changing the card properties on the Template Card tab affects the appearance of the cards in the data entry control.
Load Layout: Opens the Restore Layout dialog, which you can use to import a previously saved layout file.
Save Layout: Opens the Save Layout dialog, which you can use to save a layout file.
View
Show Lines: Shows or hides grid lines in the card.
Show Header Panel: Shows or hides the header panel at the top of the card.
Show Filter Panel: Shows or hides the filter panel at the bottom of the card.
Scroll Visibility: Shows or hides the scroll bar at the bottom or side of the card.
Layout
View Mode: Specifies how cards are displayed in the control.
Arrange Rule: Specifies whether partial cards are displayed.
Card Edge Alignment: Specifies which edge the cards are aligned by.
Horizontal Interval: Specifies the horizontal distance between cards in a row.
Vertical Interval: Specifies the vertical distance between cards in a column.
Cards
Show Caption: Shows or hides the card headers.
Show Expand Button: Shows or hides the expand/collapse button for each card.
Show Border: Shows or hides the card border. Available when Show Caption is not selected.
Fields
Allow Hot-Tracking: Specifies that fields are highlighted when you use the mouse to point to them.
Show Border: Shows or hides the grid lines between the card fields.
Show Hint: Specifies that a tooltip appears when you point to a field.
Show More Cards: Increases the number of cards that can appear in the preview pane when you scroll to view them.
