Using Aliases

XML database field names can be quite long, especially if the file contains many levels of hierarchy. You can create aliases to use instead of the long names.

ClosedTo create an alias for the database field name

  1. Open the Database Setup dialog. This dialog opens automatically when you complete the steps in the Database Setup wizard.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click Fields to open the Fields property page.

  3. Select the field name that you want, and then enter the alias that you want to use in the Alias column.

  4. Click OK. The alias appears in the BarTender Data Sources pane under Database Fields.
