Because of the defined specifications for , BarTender may not accept certain data input for your barcode. If the input contains excessive, insufficient, or invalid characters, the barcode displays a red X, and a description of the error type is displayed when you point to the barcode. These error indicators appear for all UPC/EAN/JAN, Composite, GS1 DataBar, Interleaved 2 of 5, ITF-14, MaxiCode, and Micro QR barcodes. For all other barcodes, invalid characters appear as a series of zeroes.
Therefore, it is important to note the restrictions of the symbology when you select the , because some symbologies may be better suited to display that data than others.
