Security Property Page |
Use the Security property page to specify authentication options for Print Portal users and to make specific features of the Print Portal user interface unavailable.
To access the Security property page, click Security in the left navigation pane of the Administrative Setup page.
The following settings are available.
Authentication
You must enable authentication in Print Portal before permissions settings in Administration Console can be enforced. After you enable an authentication option in Print Portal and enable security in Administration Console, you can assign Print Portal permissions to individual users and groups by using Administration Console. "Administer" permissions must be granted for users who need to access the Administrative Setup page.
The following options are available:
Disable authentication: Specifies that users do not need to log in to access Print Portal. All users have access to all root folders, BarTender documents, and administration settings and also have the ability to change the administration settings. We recommend this option for organizations where user-based security is not a concern.
Enable authentication over HTTP: Specifies that users must log in to access Print Portal by using their Windows account. Authentication occurs over HTTP, which is not encrypted. Therefore, we recommend this option for organizations that intend to use Print Portal only in a LAN-type environment.
Enable authentication over HTTPS: Specifies that users must log in to access Print Portal by using their Windows account, and authentication is secured by using HTTPS. This option requires that a security certificate and HTTPS binding are configured for the Print Portal website in Internet Information Services (IIS). We recommend this option for organizations that want to use Print Portal over the Internet. When you select this option, HTTPS is configured correctly.
