Use the System Database page to view database connection information, create a new system database or connect to an existing one, and configure message logging and cache options.
The following options are available.
Database Connection
Server: Displays the name of the server where the system database resides.
Instance: Displays the name of the system database instance.
Database: Displays the name of the system database.
Schema Version: Displays the schema version for the current system database.
Status: Displays the connection status of the system database.
System Database Wizard: Starts the System Database wizard, which you can use to create a system database connection or to connect to a different system database.
Message Logging
You can log messages to the BarTender System Database, to a Windows event log, or both, as follows:
Log messages to System Database: Specifies that messages are logged to the BarTender System Database. In the Severity level list, select the type of messages that you want to be logged.
Log messages to Windows Event Log: Specifies that messages are logged to a Windows event log. In the Severity level list, select the type of messages that you want to be logged.
Cache Options
Cache log to disk if database connection is lost: Specifies that a message log is automatically cached to your hard disk if the database connection is lost.
Stop caching if free disk space is less than: Specifies the number of megabytes of free disk space remaining on your computer at which you want to stop caching. Enter the number manually, or use the arrows to select a number. Available when Cache log to disk if database connection is lost is selected.
