System Database |
Use the System Database section of Administration Console to set up and maintain your BarTender System Database. You can create a new system database, connect to an existing one, configure message logging and caching options, schedule database maintenance tasks such as deleting message logs, and run administrative tasks, such as backing up and restoring the database.
To access the System Database section and see the System Database page, click System Database in the left navigation pane of Administration Console. Expand the node to see the other available pages.
Setting Up the BarTender System Database
Create a new system database or connect to an existing one, and configure message logging and system database caching options.
Specify that print job information is logged to the system database, and specify the type of print job information that you want to be logged.
Performing Database Maintenance
Maintenance of your BarTender System Database involves deleting older logged information. You can specify which records to delete each time database maintenance is run and whether to archive the deleted records. You can also schedule maintenance to run automatically on a weekly or daily basis. You can manually run the database maintenance at any time.
Performing Database Administration
View the size of your system database, and back up and restore your database. You can also purge your database, which deletes all logged information, including all print jobs and application messages.
Automating the BarTender System Database
You can use command-line parameters to start the BarTender System Database wizard, customize the installation configuration, and run the system database maintenance tasks.
Managing a Remote System Database
When hosting the BarTender System Database locally is not an option, you can configure and maintain a remote system database.
