SAP IDoc Definitions Page |
SAP™ (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing) is an enterprise-scale, customizable workflow application that is produced by SAP AG of Frankfurt, Germany. It is designed to make it possible for unrelated third-party applications and incompatible databases to exchange information with each other in order to automate the core processes in a large business, including order processing, supply chain management, inventory management, order fulfillment, and customer service.
BarTender uses one of SAP's integration technologies, called IDocs, to print data from any of your company's SAP-connected databases onto your document.
Use the SAP IDoc Definitions page of Administration Console to add, remove, and configure SAP IDoc definition files. The definitions that you configure on this page are available when you want to connect to a database in BarTender Designer and other applications in the BarTender suite.
The pane on the left lists the available SAP IDoc definitions. The following options are available:
Add New Definition: Adds a new definition to the list. After you add a new definition, you can configure its properties by using the options on the right side of the page.
Remove Selected Definition: Removes the selected definition from the list.
The pane on the right displays the properties for the selected definition. The following configuration options are available:
Name: Specifies the name of the selected SAP IDoc definition.
Parsing Data
Parser File: Specifies the *.parser file that is used with the SAP IDoc definition. To locate the *.parser file that you want, click Browse.
A parser file for an IDoc type contains the information that BarTender needs to parse the IDocs, such as which segments can appear in it, which segments are repeatable, what data fields appear in each segment, the field order, and the field length.
IDoc Specification
IDoc Type: Specifies the IDoc type. In some cases, you can select the IDoc type that you want from the list.
|
The IDoc type defines the structure and format of the business document that is to be exchanged between two systems. Different IDoc types handle different types of messages. For example, you can use the ORDERS01 IDoc format for purchase orders and order confirmations and use the PRICAT01 IDoc format for price lists and catalogs. |
Segment Release: Specifies the segment release for the selected IDoc type. To retrieve the latest segment release automatically, click Fetch from Default IDoc file in the list. Alternatively, use the list to select the segment release that you want. To use the Fetch from Default IDoc file option, you must first select a default IDoc file.
|
A segment defines the format and structure of a data record. Segments are reusable components that can be used in more than one IDoc type. A segment includes various fields that represent data in a data record. A segment release is like a software release; it defines a released version of a specific IDoc segment. |
Default IDoc File (Optional)
IDoc File: Specifies a default IDoc file for use with the selected IDoc definition. To locate the IDoc file that you want to use as the default, click Browse.
