Use the Receive Item by Part Number dialog, which you can access from the Inventory menu, to receive items into inventory by part number. The part number can be read by a barcode scanner or entered manually.

The following options are available:

• Part Number: Specifies the part number for the inventory item that you are receiving.

• Look Up: Searches for all inventory items that have the specified part number. If a single item that has that part number is found, the remaining settings in the dialog are filled in. If the part number is not associated with any existing inventory item, the Unknown Part Number dialog opens; you can use this dialog to select an existing item manually or to define a new item. If a part number is found that matches more than one item, the Duplicate Part Number dialog opens.

• Item: Displays the item to be received. Read-only.

• Location: Specifies the location to which the specified quantity of the item is added. All defined storage locations are available for selection. If there is only one defined location, the items are automatically added to that location, and the location setting is not displayed.

• Quantity in location: Displays the current quantity of the item that is stored in the selected location. Read-only.

• Quantity received: Specifies the quantity of the item to be added to the selected location.

• Projected new quantity: Displays the projected quantity of the item that will be stored in the location after the operation. Read-only.
