The System Database page is where you can view database connection information, create a new system database or connect to an existing one, and set message logging and cache options.
The following options are available:
System Database Setup Wizard
Clicking the System Database Setup Wizard link open the wizard, where you can create a new BarTender System Database or connect to an existing one.
Database Connection
Server: Displays the name of the server where the system database resides.
Database: Displays the name of the system database.
Schema Version: Displays the schema version for the current system database.
Status: Shows whether or not the system database is currently connected.
Message Logging
Select whether you want messages logged to the BarTender System Database, a Windows Event Log, or both.
Log messages to System Database: When enabled, messages are logged to the BarTender System Database. Select the type of messages that you want logged from the Severity level dropdown list.
Log messages to Windows Event Log: When enabled, messages are logged to a Windows Event Log. Select the type of messages that you want logged from the Severity level dropdown list.
Cache Options
Cache log to disk if database connection is lost: When enabled, automatically caches a message log to your hard disk if the database connection is lost.
Stop caching if free disk space is less than: When you have enabled Cache log to disk if database connection is lost, specify the number of megabytes of free disk space remaining on your machine at which you would like to stop caching. Enter the number manually, or use the arrows to select a number.
