The Prefix dropdown list enables you to force BarTender to add one or more characters to the beginning of your in accordance with the industry standard of your choice, such as or AIM.

2D-Pharmacode supports the following prefixes:

None: Encodes the data without a prefix.

Auto (Macro Substitution): Selects the appropriate macro prefix automatically.

GS1 FNC1: Conforms to specific industry standards as authorized by AIM International.

GS1 FNC1 (Manual Check Digits): Conforms to the GS1 standard, with manually selected .

HIBC: Conforms to the Health Industry Bar Code (HIBC) standard. When selected, encoding is forced to US ASCII.

Macro 5: Abbreviates the 05 Macro header (prefix) and trailer (suffix) into one symbol character to reduce the number of symbol characters that are needed to encode data.

Macro 6: Abbreviates the 06 Macro header (prefix) and trailer (suffix) into one symbol character to reduce the number of symbol characters that are needed to encode data.

Reader Initialization: Indicates that the symbol encodes a message that is used to program the reader system.
When the ECC 200 version is selected for Data Matrix, the following prefixes are supported:

If you specify a special function character (such as FNC1 through FNC6) at the beginning of your barcode data, and if the Prefix option is enabled, the prefix that is specified in BarTender is ignored in favor of the special function character that is located in your data. For more information about special function characters, refer to your Data Matrix documentation.
