Edition Selection Dialog

When you install the BarTender Suite, you can choose to run BarTender as a full-working edition or the trial edition, based on whether you have purchased a Product Key Code. When running the trial edition, the Edition Selection dialog allows you to run BarTender as the activated edition of your choice for the first 30 days of operation. Running as a lower edition removes the trial features of a higher edition from BarTender, so that you can easily determine which edition of BarTender will support all of the features that you would use prior to purchasing the software.

If you are running an activated copy of BarTender, you can choose to simulate a different edition by using the Edition Selection dialog. By simulating a higher edition of BarTender, you can evaluate whether an upgrade is necessary to your production environment for a period of 30 days following the initial installation. This is known as running in "trial mode".

When running in trial mode, all of the features from a higher edition are marked with the text "(Trial)" next to them. After the 30-day trial period has expired, BarTender runs in a limited "demo mode", where one character in each printed barcode or text field is modified. For example, if you tried to print out a text or barcode field containing "ABCD," it might print out as "ABXD" instead. To continue using these trial features, you will need to upgrade to a more powerful edition.

In addition to selecting an edition of BarTender to evaluate, you can access the following options using the Edition Selection dialog:
