The BarTender Document Setup dialog, accessible from the Administer menu, enables you to configure BarTender's behavior when saving documents, and set up the application to embed file information as part of the document.

The following options are available:

Document Version

• Save Document As: Defines the default application version used to save files. Documents can be saved in versions as early as 6.10. For more information, refer to Saving a Document in an Earlier BarTender Version.

• Warn when saving older documents to a newer version: Toggles the visibility of the warning message that displays when attempting to save a document to a version that is newer than the one that created it.

• Save auto-recovery information: When enabled, saves open documents automatically at the specified time interval. If BarTender shuts down unexpectedly for any reason, you will have the option to open the auto-saved document, or to discard the changes made since the last manual save operation.

Embedded Revision Log

BarTender has the ability to log information about a document each time it is saved. This information includes the date and time, the user, and an optional comment entered at the time the document was saved. The Embedded Revision Log contains a list of all this information.

• Embed revision log into saved documents: Logs a history of changes made to the document, and saves it as part of the document.

• Ask for comment when saving: Enables you to enter an optional comment at each save operation.
