Type Conversion

BarTender allows you to convert data that is imported from a database to a numeric, date, time, or binary format. By selecting Type Conversion on the Data Source property page, BarTender will open a Type Conversion dialog unique to the data type specified on Data Type tab.

The following Type Conversion dialogs are available:

Convert to Number Dialog

The Convert to Number dialog is displayed when the data type is set to Number, Currency, Percentage, or Fraction.

• Type Conversion. Specifies how BarTender will convert the incoming data.

  • Automatic. BarTender will convert the contents of the data source as specified by the selection in the Data Type tab, based on the language setting of the BarTender application. The language is specified on the Regional Settings tab of the General Options dialog.

  • Specify Input Locale. BarTender will convert the contents of the data source as specified by the Locale option.

Convert to Date Dialog

The Convert to Date dialog is displayed when the data type is set to Date.

• Type Conversion. Specifies how BarTender will convert the incoming data.

  • Automatic. BarTender will convert the contents of the data source as specified by the selection in the Data Type tab, based on the language setting of the BarTender application. The language is specified on the Regional Settings tab of the General Options dialog.

  • Specify Input Locale. BarTender will convert the contents of the data source as specified by the Locale option.

  • Specify Exact Input Format. BarTender will convert the contents of the data source as specified by the Locale option, as well as the Format, Pattern, and Time Zone settings.

Convert to Time Dialog

The Convert to Time dialog is displayed when the data type is set to Time.

• Type Conversion. Specifies how BarTender will convert the incoming data.

  • Automatic. BarTender will convert the contents of the data source as specified by the selection in the Data Type tab, based on the language setting of the BarTender application. The language is specified on the Regional Settings tab of the General Options dialog.

  • Specify Input Locale. BarTender will convert the contents of the data source as specified by the Locale option.

  • Specify Exact Input Format. BarTender will convert the contents of the data source as specified by the Locale option, as well as the Format, Pattern, and Time Zone settings.

Convert to Binary Dialog

The Convert to Binary dialog is displayed when the data type is set to Binary.

• Encoding. Allows you to specify the binary encoding method for the data source.
