Number of Characters Dialog

The Number of Characters dialog, accessible from the Transforms tab of the Data Source property page, allows you to specify how many characters can appear in the selected data source. Additionally, the settings in this dialog instruct BarTender how to behave if the minimum and/or maximum limits are not met.

Minimum Number of Characters

• Require minimum number of characters. When enabled, activates the options for specifying the minimum number of characters allowed in the selected data source.

• Minimum Number of Characters. Defines the number of characters required in the selected data source.

• Pad On. If the data source does not contain the minimum number of characters, specifies whether extra characters will be inserted on the left or right side of the existing data.

• Pad Character. Specifies the character to append to the existing data if the minimum number of characters requirement is not met.

• Warn when minimum not met. When enabled, instructs BarTender to deliver a warning at print-time when the data contained in the selected data source is less than the minimum number of required characters.

Maximum Number of Characters

• Limit maximum number of characters. When enabled, activates the options for specifying the maximum number of characters allowed in the selected data source.

• Maximum Number of Characters. Defines the maximum number of characters allowed in the selected data source.

• Warn when maximum exceeded. When enabled, instructs BarTender to deliver a warning at print-time when the number of characters is greater than the allowable number.
