Access Database

When you select Microsoft Access as the Database Platform in the Add Database Connection Wizard, you must select a specific database to use with BarTender. Access databases end with the extension *.mdb (Access 2000-2003) or *.accdb (Access 2007).

There are two ways to select an Access database as your data source:

  1. Type the path of the database into the File Name field. Alternatively, you can click Browse and navigate to the desired database. If the database requires a login, enter the user name and password into the corresponding fields. The Save User Name and Password to BarTender Document option saves the login information as part of the open document. This option is disabled for OLE DB data sources that do not have a user ID or password.

  2. Click the Advanced button to open the Windows Data Link Properties dialog. Enter the database path and file name and/or provide the necessary security credentials to access the database. For more information, refer to the Windows' help documentation.

Once you have defined an Access database, select Test Connection to verify that BarTender successfully connects to the database.
