Barcode X Dimension Dialog |
The Barcode X Dimension dialog, accessible using the icon on the Symbology and Size property page, lets you set a specific X dimension for the selected barcode. Furthermore, you can select units for the X dimension, either mils, millimeters, or the document's measurement units.
The available values for X dimension rely on the resolution and type of printer that is being used. The options available for a 300 dpi (dots per inch) printer will differ from those of a 2400 dpi printer, due to the size of dots that are printed. Due to the variances of X dimension based on differing printers, the Barcode X Dimension dialog allows you to set a desired X dimension;
X Dimension
Units. Determines the units of measurement for the X dimension.
Lock the X Dimension at the target setting. When enabled, always retains the same value for the Target X Dimension control.
Target X Dimension. Specifies the desired X dimension of the barcode.
Actual X Dimension. Specifies the actual X dimension of your barcode, based on the selected printer and printer resolution.
Auto Size
Auto size barcode to fit specified width. When enabled, allows you to specify the desired width of the barcode.
|
Using Auto size barcode to fit specified width will result in barcodes with a narrower X dimension when more data is used and a wider X dimension when less data is used. This may cause problems either printing or scanning the barcode. Be sure to test with both the maximum data possible and the minimum data possible to ensure that both print and scan correctly. |
Barcode Width. Defines the desired width of the barcode in the selected units.
Minimum X Dimension. Specifies the smallest possible width of a barcode's module.
Maximum X Dimension. Specifies the largest possible width of a barcode's module.
Manual Bar/Space Adjustment
None. Specifies that the width of the bars and spaces are determined by the X dimension of the barcode.
Reduce bar width and increase space width. Specifies that the width of each bar in the barcode is decreased by a specified number of dots. Additionally, the width of each space in the barcode increases by the same number of dots.
Increase bar width and reduce space width. Specifies that the width of each bar in the barcode is increased by a specified number of dots. Additionally, the width of each space in the barcode decreases by the same number of dots.
