Some two dimensional (2D) symbologies are organized into multiple rows of information, with each row looking like a very thin barcode. For example, the following image is a Code 49 symbol with 3 rows.
The Rows symbology option, allows you to set the number of rows you want for your symbol. When Auto is selected, the number of rows and columns in the data area is adjusted so that the symbology's overall shape is as close to a square as possible.
