Using the Paste Command to Import Bitmaps from Other Programs

The preferred method of importing graphics into a template is to import the graphic from a file, as described in Importing Pictures into a Template.

A bitmap is an image or picture composed of individual dots. A number of specific bitmap standards have been developed to allow the transfer of bitmaps from one program to another. In addition to its other functions, the Paste command can be used to place bitmaps created in other Windows programs into a template. See Supported Image Formats for a complete list of all supported image formats.

To paste a bitmap into a template

  1. Run the Windows program that was used (or is to be used) to create your bitmap image.

  2. Load or create the image.

  3. Select the image and copy it to the clipboard.

  4. Exit or minimize the program.

  5. Run BarTender and open the document where you want to place the bitmap image.

  6. Select Paste from the Edit menu to insert the image onto your template. Alternatively, select the icon on the main toolbar.

If BarTender's Paste command is not enabled when you select the Edit menu, the program used to create the bitmap and copy it into the Windows clipboard does not use a clipboard format supported by BarTender. In this case, export the bitmap image from your program to a supported image file type, and then import it into BarTender.
