Saving a Document in an Earlier BarTender Version

It is possible for you to save documents as a previous version document for versions as early as 6.10.

To save a document in an earlier BarTender version

  1. Select Save As from the File menu to open the Save As dialog.

  2. For File Type, select the version of BarTender in which you would like to save the current document.

  3. Select Save to save the document.

If you save your document as an older version document and your template contains objects or features that didn’t exist in the previous version, you will lose these objects and features from the document. If this is the case and you attempt to save your document, a dialog warning you of these effects will pop up before saving and give you a final chance to save as the older version, save as the current version, or cancel this decision. It is recommended that you save your documents first in the current version before saving in the older version so you will have a backup copy of your document if needed.

Setting the Default Version Number to Use when Saving Documents

BarTender allows you to set a default version with which to save your documents. This can be set via the BarTender Document Setup dialog.

  3. Click OK to close the dialog.

Disabling the Warning Message when Saving as an Older Version

If you save a document in an older version of BarTender and there are features enabled or objects on the template that the older version does not support, a warning message will pop up and inform you those objects and features will be lost if you continue to save.

To disable the warning message

  1. Select BarTender Document Setup from the Administer menu to open the BarTender Document Setup dialog.

  2. Deselect the option Warn when saving older documents to a newer version.

  3. Click OK to close the dialog.
